SAIL4Employment was an transnational cooperation project involving partners from coastal rural areas of Europe, focusing on the development of communities currently fighting high numbers of youth unemployment. The project aimed, therefore, at stimulating international cooperation in the field of youth, employability and entrepreneurial skills in the field of tourism, through the exploration of a common resource: the sea Concretely, SAIL4Employment made possible to provide young people and youth workers with the tools necessary to boost their employability, by learning more about the opportunities in tourism associated with the particularities of the sea. SAIL4Employment intended, furthermore, to enhance the specific characteristics of the communities of each partner, specifically when it comes to the common background concerning the use of vessels towards tourism. Each partner has direct access to different types of vessels and other occupations benefiting from the abundant coastal areas surrounding them. Adding to this, new opportunities arise with the increase in other sectors, like tourism. SAIL4Employment intended to develop improved ways to stimulate young people to seek these opportunities, taking their employability issues into their own hands and exploring ways how young people can contribute to local sea-regional development. To implement this project, the partners have identified worrying youth unemployment rates in their communities. They have also realized, through several projects and initiatives implemented throughout the years, that tourism can be a promising sector in terms of youth employability, with the added value of the geographical situation of the partners: rural coastal areas that have well-established sea economics. According to the Erasmus+ Programme Guide 2019, “equipping youth workers with competences and methods for their professional development, including for digital youth work, needed for transferring the common fundamental values of our society”. SAIL4Employment met these requirements and aimed to provide real solutions to a palpable issue. SAIL4Employment had, therefore, the following main and secondary objectives: A. General objectives: .
