Social exclusion is a term that characterizes the detachment of a person or group that is in an unfavorable or vulnerable situation in relation to the other individuals and groups of the society. This phenomenon usually comprises the deprivation of this person or group of all instances of social life for some reason. It is usually related to a condition of contemporary capitalism, characterized as a failure of social organization, driven by the structure of this economic and political system. Individuals and groups living in this condition of social exclusion are usually marginalized by society for a variety of reasons, and are prejudiced by differences in social status, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, life choices, and so on. These groups, in many cases, end up being isolated in spaces where they coexist only with each other, as a form of segregation. Eurostat data for October 2018 tell us that in the European Union (EU) the average percentage of people in this situation is 22.5%. Greece and Romania have rates above 34%. In this context, the European Commission has identified a number of fields of action that can help promote tolerance and mutual respect within and between communities - including sport. The role it plays in promoting social integration, particularly among young people, is widely recognized. It is currently agreed that sport is a cultural manifestation with great potential in bringing people, cultures and nations closer together, either through the creation and dynamism of new social groups or in the promotion of a sense of belonging, that is, inclusion. The ethics of sport and the fundamental principles of Olympism promote fair values associated with the principle of fair play, such as cooperation, tolerance, respect for others, loyalty and friendship, which guide sports action for inclusion and combat any kind of discrimination. Sport represents a wonderful basis for uniting young people, regardless of their social, cultural or economic background, and is a way of developing debates and working knowledge, skills and attitudes of young people, bringing the achievements made in the field and in the gymnasium back to everyday life, supporting them to grow as individuals and citizens. We recognize the growing contribution of sport to the achievement of peace and the development of the promotion of tolerance and respect and the contributions it makes to the empowerment of women and youth, individuals and communities, as well as health, education and social inclusion goals. With this project, based on the experience of all partners in sport and social inclusion, through sharing between different organizations and collecting good practices, we aim to develop ways to support the growth and social inclusion of young people through activities based on sport. Initially, an exchange of young people will be held where through moments of reflection, sharing and experiential learning based on games, debates, role plays, group discussions, presentations, roundtables will be perceived the situations of exclusion experienced by participants and through activities sports will be worked out the forms of inclusion. Secondly, the results of the previous activity will be analyzed and the best practices will be integrated into a best practice manual that will act as a procedure guide for adapting different sporting activities to the needs of young people in order to create comprehensive and fully inclusive practices. Goals: - Give voice to young people with fewer opportunities and promote their social inclusion; - Make the community aware of the importance of sports and social inclusion; - Provide practical tools, manuals and best practices related to youth work through sport-based and sport-based learning methods; - Foster the development of important skills, knowledge and attitudes through sports activities; - Provide ideas and resources for the development of new instruments related to sport, education and personal and professional development; - Expand the spectrum of people involved in sports education activities, exploring the importance of effective training for parents, teachers, coaches and youth coaches; - Develop a network of organizations working on sport-based learning methods to create new strategies, projects and platforms for discussion.
