Objectives

In Europe today, 6 of the 7 biggest risk factors for premature death – blood pressure, cholesterol, body mass index, inadequate intake of fruit, obesity and being overweight - are rising across Europe. The European Commission advocates an integrated approach to address these problems, involving stakeholders at local, regional, national and European levels. After studying all the information about the topic available on the official platforms of EC, we, together with our 4 partners also made our own research among our members and in our communities. And we were shocked by a sadly small number of youngsters who know how to cook and who prepare dishes for themselves, as 70% prefer pre-cooked or junk products! Thus, we came up with a final decision to design a youth exchange aiming to achieve the following objectives: 1. To identify the main wrong approaches and attitudes towards principles and habits of nutrition. 2. To shape, establish and promote correct and healthy food behaviours. 3. To encourage the further development of nutrition education in European communities. 4. To exchange national cuisine traditions in order to raise nutrition variety and foster intercultural dialogue. 5. To ensure that our participants become able to take care of their nutrition by themselves, using accessible and healthy ingredients. 6. To help participants to acquire skills and attitudes needed to live healthily and the motivation to use them after this YE. 7. To coordinate and work constructively with others, overcoming cultural and language barriers, to achieve common goals. 8. To highlight the main principles of the Erasmus+ Program and demonstrate a wide range of opportunities it is giving nowadays. A lot of people assume that being healthy means not feeling pain/not being sick at the moment. This is such a narrow and limiting belief. Being healthy is a complex multilevel state, the major part of which depends on what and how we, human beings eat. We addressed the issues caused by a lack of knowledge about adequate nutrition and meeting the needs of our participants, who seek to sustain their health, become self-sufficient and wise about cooking and eating, and are curious to learn about new cultures.
