Objectives

The aim of the youth exchange was to bring together young people from different cultural backgrounds in order to promote mutual understanding by allowing them to discover new cultures and traditions, fostering social inclusion and encouraging creativity and active participation in society. This was done through learning about traditional dances, as one of the most significant part of a culture. Traditional and folklore dances, indeed, can describe the main characteristics of a nation, since most of the traditional dances have been formed and developed through the centuries, so that they actually reflect a nation's culture, and every dance is a short description of the identity of a Country. Watching these dances we can actually witness moments of regular people's everyday lives; the action that takes place and the story that a dance narrates is not the only source of information about the individual nation, since also the music that accompanies the dance, the traditional suits that the dance performers wear, the specific moves, the dancers' number (a group or a solo), even the expressions on the dancers' faces can clearly show the nation's cultural travel through history. Moreover, dances can be a very powerful tool to foster social inclusion, as it breaks any kind of stereotype and communication barrier among people, and it's a way to unleash our own passion and share with the others our feelings and emotions. The objectives of the youth exchange were: - To foster mutual understanding and cooperation between young people from different cultures and differently developed local areas - To stimulate young people's spirit of initiative, creativity and active participation in society - To stimulate social inclusion of different categories of people - To support the cultural diversity in different local and national realities - To develop a sense of belonging to the EU and its values - to foster future cooperation amongst organizations - to raise awareness about Erasmus+ programme In respect with the Erasmus+ and key action 1 objectives, this project was focusing on: - Obtain a greater understanding of the cultural diversity and the perception of each culture towards a common topic - Expand participants’ contact network, making new partnerships and contributing to further develop a sense of European citizenship and identity
