The motivation for this project relied on the common activity and goals of all organizations involved. We considered that promoting active citizenship, in order to build a stronger and more democratic Europe, can only be achieved by creating a tight network of associations that promote the values of tolerance, intercultural dialogue and political participation. We conducted a needs analysis in the community of young people who are involved in the projects we run and we found out many of the problems that youth face. One of it is the lack of knowledge in the field of civic rights and obligations as well as politics and another one is lack of political culture and low political participation of youth at the process of voting or other civil society activities. When choosing the project partners we considered their situation regarding the involvement of youth in decision making process in society. Democratic deficit and low turnout are not specific phenomenon, present only in some countries, but are manifested at European level, although youth are more active in recent years in other forms of political participation (protests, demonstrations, social movements) The last European elections in May 2019 recorded the highest turnout in more than 20 years and youth participation influenced the high rate of presence. But the civil society members know that this positive outcome has to be permanently supported, especially among youth. For this matter, the organizations involved in the consortium of this project hosted debates and brainstorming sessions with their members and up to 10 youth from their communities on the topic of active citizenship. The purpose was to measure and set up the knowledge level of youth in the community when it comes to involvement in the decision making process and civic participation beyond being present at election rounds. The conclusions of the meetings were wrapped up and transformed in the needs of the participants and organizations and after this process, the purpose and objectives of the project were set up. Through this project we aimed to work on strengthening young people’s willingness and capacity to be active citizens, shaping the future of the society they live in. At the same time, we saw euroskepticism on the rise, on one hand, while on the other hand there is little done among involvement of young people, most of them not acknowledging the importance of their vote. For a better shape of the needs and objectives of the project, the consortium researched the following sources: How do we build a stronger, more united Europe? The views of young people survey: http://tiny.cc/0t7ldz European Youth survey: http://tiny.cc/2u7ldz European elections 2014, analytical view: http://tiny.cc/bz7ldz The purpose of the project is to achieve more active involvement of young people in decision making process in society. Our project proposed 2 main objectives: 1. Increasing the knowledge of the 28 participants during the 10 days of the mobility on their rights and duties as citizens and how they can influence through an active attitude the decision making process. 2. Developing a positive attitude for the 28 participants during the duration of the project regarding the importance of sharing and being promoters of the citizen's rights and the way that they can influence the decision making process.
