The project aimed for young people in rural areas, to get the opportunity to express their culture and learn about other cultures via food as a tool for multiculturalism, and therefore be more open towards other cultures and get a deeper reflection on their own. Another aim was to promote equality and inclusion in rural areas by facilitating access to participants with disadvantaged backgrounds and fewer opportunities. We planned to create a local event regarding food where the participants promoted multiculturalism by sharing food with the local Swedish community during the event. Additionally, we aimed to stimulate cooperation between organizations and young people at the European level by providing grounds where they can share and learn from each other’s experiences, and cultures and disseminate an event where they share foods from other countries in their local community after the project. We wanted to encourage European citizenship through workshops tackling current European issues such as discrimination (because of gender, age, ethnicity, and religion), and geographical obstacles (people from remote or rural areas) and familiarize the participants with European diversity.
