Objectives

With the implementation of the youth international Erasmus+ exchange project Art is a language (as well as the previous APV visit and all dissemination activities of the project, after the mobility), we wanted to empower a group of young people and youth leaders to plan, lead, implement, and evaluate the project with all the modifications necessary due to the pandemic (changing the target group of young people, moderating the addressing of the target group's needs, analyzing new circumstances). With the aim of achieving the original goals, we adhered to the theme of sustainable development, the problem of fast-moving fashion and its unethical aspects, the environmental problem that young people are increasingly exposing and feeling the need for active participation. We maintained the goal of maintaining a campaign to raise awareness of excessive clothing consumption through the reuse and recycling of already worn clothing and fashion accessories. We expanded the goal of presenting 3 sustainability and environmental problems and sustainable development to a detailed analysis of the problems faced by each partner country (each national group presented several problems, and three were presented in the social media campaign - young people also added solutions to the problems). Since the target group was different from the original project application, we also adjusted the difficulty of the required tasks (which was a proposal from the group of young people and youth leader). The aim of the project was to empower young people and enable them to express their personal opinions through creativity - we maintained the medium of theater, the medium of a photography workshop (in which members of the local Multimedia team Media Crew also helped), and a photo exhibition. Before the exchange, young people organized a recycling event - an exchange of used clothing, where they collected clothes and fashion accessories that they no longer use, which they later repurposed and reused. After the upcycling workshop, young people organized a fashion show, and in the background of the fashion show, a multimedia product of the photo workshop with pictures of models wearing repurposed clothing was played, as well as flyers to raise awareness of sustainability issues. The social media campaign was successful - we shared it through local channels, reached a regional newspaper, and the campaign was also presented in partner countries. The video of the entire exchange served as a promotion of Erasmus+ projects, as well as a clear outcome of the project results. The project pursued the goals of Erasmus+, and by empowering youth workers and youth leaders, we strive to improve the level of key competencies and skills of young people, including young people with fewer opportunities, and encourage their participation in democratic life in Europe and the labor market (both locally and internationally). In addition to active citizenship, we also pursue the perspective of the European Year of Youth - our goals were to involve more young people in the entire process of activities - from planning to project evaluation.
