With this youth exchange Hands up for tolerance we aim to bring youth closer to the differences of us all and to bring together young people from different economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds, different religions and young people with fewer opportunities, and bring them closer to the diversity and the needed equality between all. We want to give participants from Cyprus, Italy, Germany, Serbia and Slovenia the opportunity to meet new people and their stories, while also educating our volunteers how to offer equal dialogue when people from different backgrounds are involved. Through this five days long youth exchange we want to present the possibilities of getting to know different cultures through the Erasmus + program and acquiring competencies that can be noted in Youthpass. We want to encourage them to learn foreign languages and present diversity as something commonplace. We also want to bring non-formal learning closer to young people through various interesting methods. We will provide them with learning support and follow the newly acquired competences. An important topic of our youth exchange will also be active (European) citizenship, where the participants will learn what are the means of active citizenship, what is a civic initiative and how it works, how to prepare a campaign … The goals of our youth exchange are to raise awareness of, and recognise, issues of intolerance and discrimination, to promote youth responsibility, to recognise the signs of discrimination, to encourage young people to be tolerant and active European citizens, to establish dialogue between young people from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds, long-term networking and involvement of participants and organisations, and inclusion of new organisations.
