Objectives

The social exclusion of communities in European urban environments has been increasing recently, so the fight against exclusion is becoming more and more necessary. In this context, the use of circus arts as a tool for social inclusion is recognized as a highly effective means of raising and educating young people with fewer opportunities. More precisely, the concept of social circus is based on the idea that circus arts as an art form are recognized as a universal tool for the upbringing and education of young people: 1. The social circus provides an opportunity to teach a wide variety of skills without distinguishing between social classes, cultures and level of education. 2. It is used as a tool for social development that promotes inclusion, teamwork, cultural diversity and creativity, while fighting racism and discrimination in a context where there is a positive atmosphere where there is no place for competition. 3. The social circus encourages young people who have dropped out of school to return to a non-formal learning environment, which can ultimately encourage them to re-enter the formal education system. 4. Social circus promotes personal development and promotes a more positive awareness of one's body. Therefore, with the help of the Caravan network, our partners began to develop competences in the field of the use of circus arts in a specific social context. This project was specifically aimed at training circus arts trainers in the field of developing an approach to work aimed at involving young people with fewer opportunities through the implementation of social circus. Through the project, we promoted the employability of young people, providing them with the opportunity to acquire new, original and adapted competences that will prepare them for today's social and economic reality in Europe. The organization of training at such an international level, however, contributed to the improvement of intercultural awareness in the field of social circus. Training modules within the project "European Training of Social Circus Trainers" were implemented in four different European countries, each of which hosted a very specific social circus project. Social circus trainers often have to work with young people with fewer opportunities and immigrants. Therefore, basic knowledge of different languages is essential for working with this target group. That is why we promoted the importance of linguistic and cultural diversity among the key elements of our project. Thus, the project improved the employability and encouraged the innovative spirit of the participants, while encouraging them to develop new and innovative social circus projects. The project also fulfills the needs of circus schools to develop competences in the field of upbringing and education and social inclusion in working with young people with fewer opportunities, while also improving their recognition at the international level and inviting intercultural learning within their organizations
