The main objective of the project was to raise participants' awareness of the overuse and harmful effects of plastic, to focus on environmental protection and the importance of waste selection. We intended to find solution how to reduce and replace plastic in households, e.g. plastic bags, snack bags, straws. It was our intention to make participants during their stay in Slovakia use as little plastic or packaging as possible and to offer an alternative choice replacing plastic. In this idea our town was quite a good example as it continuously improves the possibilities to select household waste with colour containers and organises volunteering activities e.g. planting trees. In our town citizens planted around 300 trees in 2019. Od January 2022 we have a new policy in Slovakia for returning PET bottles to collection points. This policy also helps our environmet by not letting hundreds of bottles been thrown away in nature, towns and villages.
