Objectives

Our project focused on tolerance, acceptance and cultural diversity. International Day of Tolerance is held on 16th November. The youth exchange took place between 21st-27th of November in 2022. It was close to this famous international day. Everyone came from somewhere else, with other opportunities, skills, different English language skills, all of us consider other things important and all of us have other priorities. Tolerance, empathy towards others, acceptance of cultural diversity can be best experienced within a community, people from 4 different countries were "locked together" for a week. Tolerance is a bare necessity, unfortunately it is disappearing from humans. We wanted to emphasize the importance of tolerance and tolerant behaviour through the activities and programs of this youth exchange. We showed that people living elsewhere may have different values than we have. When talking or thinking of other cultures, countries and peoples, we tend to associate typical characteristics with them. First, when we do not have enough knowledge and experience, we lean on stereotypes, but it is important not to take stereotypes as granted and it is time to question them. Participants have realized that if they get to know different cultures and people, stereotypes and prejudices will destroying. Young people came from different cultures and they have experienced that we are different: we have different values, we make friends and argue differently. We hope that their tolerance level increased by the activities, and they will respect and accept other’s religion, ethnical and national affiliation. There were disadvantaged participants among young people, who face cultural, social and geographical obstacles, and some participants have a kind of physical disability (such as dyslexia, dysgraphia). This youth exchange also contributed to strenghtening European citizenship and identity of participants. Our project ensured diversity: youth of 4 nations spent the project time together in a different country, learning by nonformal methods, gaining life-long experience and learning lots of new things. At the end of the program they got a Youthpass, that describes their newly gained competences.
