Bringing up youth in digitally imbued reality poses unique challenges to teachers, youth workers and every responsible adults who try to help and educate them as real human beings. There has never been a young generation that is so acknowledged with new technology with so little skills to identifying and articulating their own feelings. By implementing this project we want to provide biblioguidance and storytelling skills to youth workers directly working with young people at risk of social exclusion, encouraging them to diversify methodologies and strategies in the search for youth empowerment and in the boost of real social inclusion. In broader perspective we see biblioguidance as an effective tool to improve youngsters social and emotional skills, personal-well being, independent exploration, and support the competent sharing of personal experience. We are basing our approach not only on our own youth practice but also on academic research. According to scholars Pardeck, J. T. as well as Pehrsson, D. E., & McMillen, P. biblioguidance encourages effective social behavior, clarifies values, and instills cultural identity. The objectives of our projects are: - To support the professional development of youth workers and improve the quality of youth work across Europe through innovation. In order to reach this objective we will introduce youth workers with bibliotherapy methodologies, give them means to reach young people especially those at-risk and work with them on their self-worthiness and self-agency, self-expression, acceptance as a way to prevent violent radicalisation and early school drop out, therefore promoting intercultural dialogue, diversity, tolerance, respect and inclusion. - To facilitate personal development of the participants and their target groups. According to scholars Pehrsson and McMillen (2006) biblioguidance enhance personal insight, provide information, suggest alternatives, diminish isolation, clarify emerging values, stimulate discussion and extend the counselling process outside of traditional settings. By going through whole process on their own, participants will have a chance to experience benefits of biblioguidance for their own development and learn how to provide similar experience to young people and other youth workers. - To increase the capacities and international dimension of the partners and enable them to offer services that better respond to the needs of their target groups. Thanks to cooperation with other European stakeholders participants will bring back to their organizations new contact, new ideas and tools that can be used to develop innovative activities and reach new target groups or improve existing programs.
