Objectives

The project was a common initiative of 4 organizations from Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Lithuania and Latvia. It was based on the jointly defined need that we are in times when we can still see great social and economic differences between people around us, as well as the ever-increasing fear of young people about these differences and thus also the growing need to define themselves against those who are different, which leads not only to the rejection of others, but often to hate speech in both the online and offline worlds. Therefore, during the exchange, we wanted to focus on one of the three defined aspects of solidarity – building a solidary attitude towards others. We wanted to organize a meeting of young people and let them experience solidarity in such a way that their personal attitude towards others begins to change, not only towards those who are in need, but also towards those who are simply around them. We wanted to let them experience a week full of practical actions, on the basis of which they start understanding what solidarity really is and how to live it. We also wanted to motivate them to volunteer as one of the manifestations of solidarity in practice. During the project, we wanted to show the participants how to really live solidarity in practice, how to start being more interested in other people, how to start seeing the needs of others, how to pay more attention to those who need it. The main objective of this project was to motivate young people from our countries to start living an attitude of solidarity in relation to the people around them. Partial objectives: Let young people experience that a little is enough and they too can bring good to the people in their community. To teach young people to sensitively perceive others around them, their needs and situation, and to learn to respond in solidarity to these needs. To increase the sensitivity of young people to other people and teach them to see the real needs of the people around them. To create a space for the exchange of experiences, how individual aspects of solidarity, especially respect for others, are lived in individual countries. To motivate young people to volunteer. To create a space for young people to meet together and be inspired together in creating concrete solutions that will be implemented.
