Objectives

The project was inspired by the report of World Health Organization. The World Health Organization (WHO) said that in 2030 depression would become the world's most common disease, while 350 million people around the world were affected by the depression (2012 news), it said depression would be the second widespread disease all around the world. While depression was growing rapidly, specialists of the subject were discussing whether medication was needed in the treatment of depression and they were discussing psychotherapy. (2014 news) These statistics were statistics on diagnosed people. 90% of people who kill themselves are depressed. Every 42 seconds in the world, one person attempts suicide to end his / her life, and every 17 minutes one person loses his / her life due to suicide. Nowadays suicide age ranks third among the causes of death for adolescents and young adults between 15 and 24 years. These statistics mean that, while only this paragraph was written, about 100 people attempted suicide due to depression .In this world, a lot of people are dying from a lot of things. We are aware of this and we have learned to protect ourselves by saying "we have nothing to do", "our power is not enough". But when we learn about new psychological approaches, realize that things happen only because we do not know how to think "functional" and realizing the tricks drug companies do to sell their SSRIs, it becomes harder to say "nothing to do" without doing nothing. The working system of SSRI is roughly, regulating serotonin and dopamine reuptake channels and receptors, and what messes up these receptors has been proven many times that we do not know how to think. We do not intend to return people to life who have been diagnosed with major depression with this project. Such an aim is not realistic. But we try to start changing the system step by step and to teach youth workers and then youth, that pills are not the only one way. The most important in this diagnose is to find out why we did fall in it, to get know much ourselves and also to know alternative methods of depression healing. During this meeting we tried to show youth workers really useful methods how they can be supportive to their community of youth. We intended to increase the participants' awareness on their own thoughts, feelings and behaviors (especially the first 5 days) and then offer them alternative ways for young people at work and all the people around them to transfer them (especially the last 2 days). We would like to be the next generation youth leaders, psychology students and doctors that can communicate mental healthy problems in normal human speech. So, even though there was a lot of literature information under all of our subjects, we tried to explain them by using daily language and examples of life, and not bothering the participants. To be clearer and illustrate; our goal was not to provide participants' memorizing the cognitive distortions and explain them one by one but to made it possible to break this trap with the question of solving the problem, when someone fell into a trap with a certain thought .In this project; we were planning to convey the works of scientist such as Maslow, Danial Goleman,Ellis and Beck, Vigosky, Bandura and others with general training ways. We hope that the impact of the project activities was such strong and all participants became really conscious youth workers who can help with finding solution for people suffering depression.
