The "Employability in Progress" project was planned to take place in three phases (Training Course, Local Activity, and Seminar). By implementing this project, we wanted to offer space for learning, develop competencies, share best practices among participants while implementing acquired tools in the local context, and finally, give participants space to evaluate, share results, and build meaningful cooperation among the partner organizations. Even though we have implemented only single mobility - the training course we believe we have achieved the project's initial vision. EIP aimed to empower and train youth workers, youth leaders, and professionals in the youth sector to advance their competencies to successfully stimulate personal development and increase the employability skills of the young people they work with. Using non-formal education allowed us to approach various important and difficult topics. Participants acquired methods and tools that enabled them to strengthen young people's employability skills, enhance their awareness of personal qualities, and widen their knowledge about the needs of today's dynamic job market so they could make self-contained life choices based on their own desires and qualities. This should have resolved in youth being more conscious of their possibilities, resources, and potential. EIP was designed to tackle the challenges of youth unemployment in Europe, particularly in Macedonia, Romania, Italy, Cyprus, Poland, and Slovakia. Due to COVID-19 and the war in UA we were forced to replace Cyprus partner with a Hungarian NGO. The project strived to lessen the effects of long-term 'scarring' caused by unemployed young people and help them gain better life chances. Statistics showed that although the youth unemployment rate had decreased in recent years, it was still more than double the overall unemployment rate and differed significantly between member states and their regions. This had a negative impact on employers' perception of young people, as periods of unemployment on someone's CV signaled perceived low productivity, resulting in them not being hired or offered only a lower-level job. Our project aspired to reduce the negative effects of youth unemployment and contribute to its solution. We and project partners conducted local surveys among youth workers and educators to gain insight into the issue and the most severe consequence of unemployment among young people: the loss of self-esteem and self-confidence. Through this project, we worked to create better job opportunities and promote economic growth and better living conditions in order to help young people enter the labor market and stay there. The overall aim was planned to be achieved by means of fulfilling the following objectives: - to raise awareness about Youth unemployment as a common European problem by exploring its origins and social consequences; - to compare the current situation of Youth unemployment in the countries of partner organizations together with different approaches and strategies on how to address this issue; - to empower participants' self-development by raising their awareness of the importance of the personal development plan, by developing their competencies to understand personal key point of learning, to identify their strengths, weaknesses, and needs towards professional future; - to develop participants' competencies to boost the personal and professional development of young people they work with by using non-formal education activities and other innovative tools; - to enable participants to reflect on the role of a youth worker, youth leader, or professional in the youth sector as the one who could support young people in recognizing and gaining competencies for better employability; - to provide space for sharing of experience and good practices in developing key life and employability skills among young people; - to empower participants in acting as multipliers to build up to the experience gained during the project and having it spread to relevant stakeholders afterward; - to explore possibilities for future cooperation among participants and partner organizations, to foster sustainable networks, capacity, and partnership building in the youth field working with youth unemployment.
