Objectives

According to the World Health Organization (WHO) report, approximately 1 million people with disabilities live in the world, which accounts for 15 percent of the world's population. In the light of this fact, it is seen that disabled people are involved in all areas of life. However, the importance, attention and special education are not given to these individuals in sufficient amounts. In that point, especailly what we as youth groups from different countries want to point out that abuse to everyone are critically important to act but unfortunately abuse especially for people with disabilities, can often be ignored in the daily life. According to Sc Crosse's research conducted in 1993, it was observed that the rate of abuse of individuals with disabilities was 43% and the rate of abuse of individuals with normal development was 11%. It is known that abuse of individuals with disabilities has social, emotional dimensions as well as physical and sexual. Among the disabled individuals, the most vulnerable group is individuals with mental disabilities. The reason of this situation is that individuals with intellectual disabilities cannot establish healthy communication or have difficulty in maintaining and terminating the communication they have established. In addition, it is observed that the disabled individuals generally think that the attention shown to them is a show of love, and the exploiters benefit from the mentioned disadvantages and the factors that increase the rate of abuse in disabled people are striking. In this aspect, the project, I Am Here Aware of Me, is to realize disable people not only phisically but also mentally and emotionally and be a voice of them for the difficulties abuse in particular by the large masses, to develop international solutions and cooperations for the prevention of the abuse applied to the disabled people, the content of the institutions providing special education services to prevent all kinds of abuse is integrated into the education programs. We also aim to ensure that the number of abuses experienced in a coordinated survey work with related non-governmental organizations of disabled people at national and international levels and to put a end to. In addition, it is among our objectives to know the types of disability and to raise awareness that individuals with this disability can make their lives easier by making various social adaptations meanwhile it will be ensured that the participants coming from all the countries will have the opportunity to transfer different cultural values, knowledge, experience and experiences on various subjects by crossing the differences between them thanks to the multicultural environment to be formed within the project. Our participants will be able to improve their linguistic skills as they will be in a multilingual environment. In addition to all these, it is important for our participants to change their viewpoints by breaking their prejudices, to believe in equality of opportunity and gender equality, to realize their individual talents, to realize active learning through non-formal learning methods and to deliver the outcomes obtained to the target groups. With the dissemination activities to be carried out before, during and after the project, our objectives will be implemented in coordination with decision-makers, non-governmental organizations, voluntary individuals, in short, every stakeholder of the society.
