Objectives

Genetic diseases affect the entire life cycle of families and children. Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) is the second most common muscle disease and is one of the diseases that families need to learn about and spread this information before and after having children. In this context, our youth exchange project "Kite in my Dream" aims to raise awareness on processes such as early diagnosis, understanding of diseases, treatment process, psychological support and to contribute to the creation of a cooperation environment of young parents-to-be and families who already have children and who already are struggling with pediatric diseases, especially with DMD. Increasing the visibility of the needs in the field of pediatric diseases also contains important teachings for the young profile within the scope of European Citizen to stay in touch with each other and learn to share, to raise awareness together and to spread this awareness. On the other hand, we can summarize the main objectives of our project and the implementation of these objectives as follows; 1. To contribute the visibility of DMD disease in local, regional, national and international dimensions by using various dissemination methods and tools and project outputs created by the hard work of our target audience, stakeholders and partners together and contribute to the action plan for the DMD awareness day on September 7 with our project outputs, 2.To increase the awareness of DMD muscle disease on the target audience by introducing what DMD is, the typical symptoms in childhood, the stages of the process according to age. 3. Psychological counseling services for families with DMD, the stages that families go through in the adaptation process, the relationship between the environment-society-disabled child, the main activities and dissemination activities for home-centered and school-centered education programs so that families or potential families with disabled children can manage their own psychological processes and gain awareness. 4. Introducing the treatment methods applied in the world, the infrastructure and materials required for these methods, solutions that can extend the life span of patients, to young parents and future parents, especially our project participants with the support of our stakeholders. 5. Contributing to the work carried out by the Ministry of Health at the civil society level to increase awareness of activities, policies. Creating a useful Erasmus+ project and its outcomes for the future activities of many NGOs, associations, institutions and youth workers active in the field of childhood illnesses and increasing activity of those groups with our know-how, 6. To contribute to increasing the visibility of DMD practices and other child diseases within the framework of Erasmus+. 7. To contribute positively to the visibility of the National Agency and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the EU, which grants and supports the project. 8. To increase the cultural interaction of Adana and other partner country origin hometowns by carrying out a European Union project in Adana. 9. Promoting benefits of Youthpass and Erasmus+ programs, opportunities offered, and helping to serve reaching more people by providing informations and further support. 10. To have a positive impact on increasing the number of individuals, institutions, associations, foundations, etc. that will participate and partner in EU programs 11. Reflecting the spirit of Erasmus+ projects to youth target group by basing the structure of our activities and the objectives of our project on equal opportunities, combating racism and discrimination, respect and including participants with limited opportunities 12.
