15% of the world's population, approximately 1 billion people, have some form of disability and most of this rate is observed in developing countries. 190 million people, about one-fifth of this figure, are severely disabled (WHO, 2018). As expected, disabled individuals have problems such as lower education, poor health conditions, high unemployment and poverty compared to non-disabled individuals. There are economic, legal, physical and social barriers in front of the disabled and these barriers prevent participation in civil, economic and social life. One of the reasons behind this situation is that there are not enough social workers and youth workers to serve for young disabled people, as well as their insufficient capacity. As KIO, a field research was carried out within the scope of the intellectual output we produced in our strategic partnership project "Virtual Reality for Inclusion - VR 4 Inclusion", which we implemented together with Bahçeşehir University and 3 other partners. The needs analysis of institutions and individuals working in this field was conducted in 4 countries. In line with the result, it has been seen that one of the most important shortcomings of youth workers and institutions working with the disabled is that they cannot use the produced or existing technologies well enough and they do not have a good command of ICT tools (www.vr4inclusion.org). It has been seen that institutions and individuals who integrate current technologies into their work in line with the needs of the target audience and use them correctly are much more efficient in their work and can facilitate the lives of the disabled. Based on this need, the ultimate aim of our project was to increase the capacities (knowledge, skills, abilities) of youth workers and institutions (EÇKK) working with the disabled and to expand the scope of the studies. While doing this, technology and ICT were used, and it was shown how youth workers, trainers, experts and social workers could use up-to-date technologies and tools produced for the disabled. In addition, the sub-goals of the project are as follows; - Within the scope of this training course, which is a first in its field and developed in Turkey, 29 participants from 5 countries gained skills that they can use in their professional and volunteer lives for 5 days (thanks to 5 different modules). - A completely new and alternative form of education model/program has been created - Up-to-date technologies and ICT tools have been introduced to youth workers working with people with disabilities, and they have been shown how to use them in a practical way. - Good practice examples were shared with representatives of different institutions and different approaches were gained. - "Empowerment of Youth Workers with Disabilities Training Handbook", "Non-Formal Training Tools Handbook for Youth Workers", "Online Site and Document Repository" and "Project Promotional Film" were produced, enabling the employees in this field to benefit. Our project was directly compatible with Erasmus +'s "inclusion and diversity" priorities. It also contributed to the goal of increasing the capacity of individuals and institutions working in this field, which is one of the 2020-2030 EU Disability Strategy targets.
