The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) asserts that eradicating hunger and poverty while utilising scarce natural resources must be sustainable. For fisheries and aquaculture, this means maximising the sector’s contribution to food security and nutrition, ensuring all people have access to good-quality, nutritious food while supporting vibrant fisheries communities. We applied for the GastroFish project to contribute to the sustainable development of the fisheries and aquaculture sector, which is crucial in ensuring food security and nutrition. Introducing the effects of seafood consumption on human health to young people in the project regions and carrying out activities that will contribute to increasing the consumption of fishery products will contribute significantly to the increase in the orientation towards healthy nutrition in the world. The most important reason for the application was to address the needs of young people in the Mediterranean region, including Turkey, Greece, Italy, and Spain, by promoting their engagement, connection, and empowerment in the fishery and gastro-kitchen sector through digital learning activities. By addressing the needs of the youth population in the fishery and gastro-kitchen sector, the GastroFish project tried to stimulate cross-sectoral cooperation, promote diversity, intercultural and social and economic rights, and enhance critical thinking and media literacy among young people.
