Objectives

With Neurostory, we aimed to empower young people to create their own life stories and at the same time be critical to the information that come to them through social media, media and the society. We aimed to create healthy and safe learning environment for young people to meet, learn, connect and take their next steps in life. We aimed to empower young people by giving them tools that expand their critical thinking skills, communications skills and ability to connect with others. We aimed to host a creative, inclusive learning space where young people can expand their cultural awareness by learning about other cultures and get experience in living with others. We also aimed to promote the Erasmus+ programme and to promote life long learning. We are happy to share that we have achieved all our goals and that Neurostory was a beautiful, enriching, empowering learning experience for young people, coming from different countries, backgrounds, speaking different languages. We not only achieved our goals, but created a community of like-minded people who are still in touch and supporting each other in their growth and development. At the end of this project, we are glad to share that young people enriched their skills: critical thinking, communication, cultural awareness, living with others. Those young people got engaged in the Erasmus + programme and got to learn about the opportunities in the field. They managed to create their own experiences and get the support to take the next steps in their lives. Our participants learned: - how to create their own learning (setting and reaching their own learning goals, looking for support, celebrating successes) - How to organize their own experiences (planning their trips, organizing events, facilitating workshops for others, deciding on the programme) - How to live together (sharing about their feelings and needs, setting boundaries, creating common rules, respecting each other, discussing their life) - How to be open to the culture of others (learning about different cultures and ways of living, practicing speaking in English, active listening) - How to deal with uncertainty and change (being flexible in the learning process, adapting to changes in the environment) - How to evaluate their own learning and set new learning goals (YouthPass) - Critical thinking, media literacy and storytelling skills Furthermore, we formed partnerships with other like-minded organizations and got in touch with local communities and young people who would like to further develop themselves with our support. Our OBJECTIVES were A) To bring 57 participants and 17 leaders from 7 countries (from which at least 40% of them will be with fewer opportunities). B) To analyze cultural stories of the involved countries, define the hidden messages passed through them, understand how they are shaping the thinking of people and to exchange them. C) To bring attention to European values, understanding when cultural stories are clashing with them, and opening a discussion about possibilities of what to do with it. D) To support participants with understanding how they were shaped by their cultural stories, and help them with creating strategies on how to become more resistant towards hidden messages contained inside of these stories. E) To support participants with realizing and naming their personal values and way of life they want to live, and with forming them to the stories they would like to live in. F) To enhance competencies useful in personal and professional life, mainly: communication and presentation skills, listening, understanding, critical reading, teamwork, and – of course – storytelling. G) To organize a public performance for the local community where participants will perform with stories they believe society should hear. H) To ensure that the dissemination and the evaluation of the project will happen. These objectives are linked with OBJECTIVES of E+ in the field of youth in the following ways: - improve the level of key competencies and skills of young people, including those with fewer opportunities - promote intercultural dialogue, social inclusion, and solidarity; - foster quality improvements in youth work, in particular through enhanced cooperation between organizations in the youth field and/or other stakeholders; The project is also strongly connected to “media literacy” which is one of the priorities of E+. We evaluate this project as successful. The implementation of Neurostory brought a lot of value to our organization, our partners, the young people included in the project, other young people who get to know about Erasmus because of our publications and materials, the Erasmus+ programme and the field of education in general.
