Objectives

Our common mission shared among all participants and partners involved was to promote the active citizenship of young people in society and improve their employability through media and ICT tools. Our target group was young people struggling with unemployment. The economic crisis in the last years has been a barrier to employment for many of the young people, including those with fewer opportunities. Unemployment is one of the key issues in most European countries these days. While it had already been much discussed before the economic and financial crisis, the crisis itself definitely put it on the top priority list of relevant themes. Youth are a vulnerable group in the labour market and they were struck hardest by the crisis, a fact put forward by the European Commission on the New EU Strategy for Youth for 2019-2027. Through the YE we strived to grow the proactive spirit of the participants but also to provide them with soft skills (communication, empathy, cooperation spirit, problem-solving approach etc.) and practical skills about personal branding on a level that can enrich their employability level. Our General Aims were: to increase opportunities for career development connected with the media/digital/ICT field to support participants to learn to construct, create and produce innovative media to which they can add whichever value and purpose they want to equip youth with basic audio-visual competences, critical thinking about accessing and consuming media, knowledge of producing media, such as video, photography, visualisation of information, blogs, graphics and social media content. In order to achieve the mission and the general aims, we had the below specific objectives: to directly involve 59 participants and 15 leaders in the main activities, 50% with fewer opportunities and unemployed youth, coming from 7 European countries and NGOs which work in their youth field with media and ICT tools to increase the competencies and skills of the 59 participants and 15 leaders during the 2 main activities to produce and disseminate in an online platform, 10 video tutorials on thematics connected with self-branding, during the youth exchange and beyond, for young people between 16-30 years old. The project matched the Erasmus+ objectives and the British E+ priorities as follows: We improved the level of key competencies of youth, including those with fewer opportunities We promoted and strengthened the active citizenship and intercultural dialogue by empowering the young people to be initiators in their societies We promoted participation in the labour market by encountering media and self-branding activities that can lead to employment We enhanced the active participation of young people belonging to socially vulnerable groups due to economic and social situations We supported actions implemented in the region in an effort to support the societies of the region (YE taking place in Kennington, Ashford)
