Objectives

By involving teachers from different subject areas, we aimed to incorporate a wide range of international trends and innovations into our school routine. We are very interested in incorporating novelties and current topics into our school philosophy. Knowledge transfer at the cutting edge of fashion and art, the expansion of an international network, collaborations for travel, internships, and projects are high priorities in our school strategy. The professional, methodological, didactic, and mental aspects of our education at the highest level are of great concern to us. We are open to international innovations and inspirations, and we believe that we can only grow and develop by engaging in exchanges with leading institutions and organizations in Europe. A competitive school that combines knowledge, innovation, and modernity is our vision.

Background

Since the first KA1 project was a huge success, it was very important for KMD Herbststrasse to initiate a follow-up project. We wanted to offer teachers from different subject areas the opportunity to further advance their education in traditional crafts methods of the European cultural area, in the development of language competence and in mental health related aspects at the school location, which are not accessible in Austria. This promotes and further develops the understanding of international exchange on many school levels, ultimately making it accessible to students. They become aware to the concept of European citizenship and get to enjoy state-of-the-art and internationally proven elements in their lessons. Not only do teachers benefit from the experience abroad, but students also gain immense value in their education at our school location. It is very important to us to constantly develop our school so that we can continue to meet the high quality standards we set for ourselves in the future. Projects abroad in Europe and further education and trainings are essential for this. Teaching and learning are significantly improved for everyone. Openness to traditional and creative craftsmanshift is inherent to the self-concept of the KMD Herbststrasse and is furthermore part of our historically founded educational legacy of fashion and art. As teaching staff from different departments participate in the project, not only craftmanship gets promoted but also language skills and skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur within the European Union - aspects which are indispensible in a globalised world. Ideally, more colleagues will participate in mobility programs and therefore start living and communicating European values and ideas. Regarding our students, the participation in the mobility programs and hence the training of staff facilitates their start to a European world of work as a result of excellent language skills and the awareness of culturual differences within the EU. The concept of the European citizen becomes part of their mindset and attitude.
