DökoT aims at raising awareness and demand-oriented competence development as a prerequisite for successful education for sustainability. Education for sustainable development (ESD) is a question of attitude: attractive mobility activities should promote the formation of a corresponding mindset among education experts and the competences for the implementation of European and international cooperation: European values, foreign languages, intercultural learning and the use of modern communication technologies.
If we look at the major challenges of the 21st century (climate change, biodiversity, poverty, migration, ...), it becomes clear that ecological, economic and social aspects are always inextricably linked with these challenges. This is expressed in the UN's 17 SDGs and the EU's Green Deal. Therefore, these links must also be taken into account in education and teaching so that urgently needed behavioural changes occur in society. For education, this means that sustainability is not only a task of biology classes, but must encompass all other subjects and all levels of education. The Styrian Board of Education, which acted as consortium leader of 170 schools with 8,440 employees (teachers and administrative staff), 66,354 pupils and assigned authorities and networks, sees the project "The Ecological Talent - Education for Sustainability" as an educational policy response to the EU's Green Deal and the UN's Global Development Goals.
