1. Strengthening of the European dimension: Students completed their compulsory internships in EU countries and gained international work and life experience. Because of that they strengthened their cultural awareness and got to know other working styles and working methods than the Austrian ones. For their later job life, the students of the BBS Rohrbach proved that they can work and act internationally. 2. The language dimension: Without any doubt, students enhanced their command of foreign languages in the EU countries. 3. The vocational dimension: Furthermore, due to working internationally our students will be well prepared for a diverse and inclusive working environment. 4. European literacy: Moreover, the core philosophy of a United Europe will be enhanced in the students as well as a mutual understanding and international co-operation. 5. The BBS Rohrbach is a truly European school with European values and a European mindset. 6. The strengthening of the 21st century skills. In a rapidly changing Europe, there will be jobs created not yet existent. Our students are well prepared for these challenges.
Our school, the BBS Rohrbach, has been involved in the successful implementation of Erasmus projects for years. The BBS Rohrbach is a vocational school with three branches, a secondary business college, a secondary college with focus on professions in the tertiary sector, and with a three-year long technical school. With around 750 students and more than 100 employees the BBS is one of the largest schools in the district. The most important Erasmus plus activity concerns the students’ mobility to widen the professional and personal horizon of the students. During the project phase students of the BBS Rohrbach completed their compulsory internships abroad. There were short-term activities as well as long-term activities of Erasmus students alike. We had vocational trainings in IT, in office management, in child care and in kitchen and restaurant management. The focus of this project was to make students fit for the 21st century even though the project Fit for the 21st century was heavily challenged by the pandemics. For this reason, the project was prolonged for two years. A lot of flexibility was required to complete this project successfully.
