Objectives

Our aim was to give our students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in companies abroad, so that they could put the skills and abilities they had acquired in the course of their training at our institution into practice and put them to the test. As mentioned previously, this is difficult to implement in the context of teaching and our goal was to close this gap. Furthermore, another major concern was to enable our students to come into contact with people from different cultures in order to get to know and understand different ways of acting and thinking and thus to promote the idea of tolerance, which is utterly important, especially in today's crisis-ridden times in order to consolidate and guarantee the continued existence of the European idea. Finally, one of the main concerns was to facilitate our candidates' future access to the European labor market by increasing their competitiveness and employability through the growth of linguistic, intercultural and business skills.

Background

As our school is a college of business administration and aims to prepare young people for their professional future in the best possible way, we have implemented the project "Interns4Future" in order to increase our students' employability and competitiveness through internships abroad. In the school context, practical relevance is only possible to a very limited extent, and so we wanted to give committed students the opportunity to take advantage of a voluntary additional offer to gain work experience in companies abroad and to acquire a large repertoire of entrepreneurial skills in addition to testing their English skills. The experience of intercultural competence, which is becoming increasingly important in a united and interconnected Europe, can often only be taught in theory at school. Therefore, our goal was to give the participants the opportunity to immerse themselves in other cultures and to experience different ways of thinking, perceiving and behaving in order to broaden their horizons. Ultimately, language growth is also an important educational goal of our institution. The project definitely promoted this major aim, as the participants had to communicate in the foreign language constantly throughout their stay.
