Getting to know other organizational structures of educational institutions in prisons was a priority so that we can further develop our organization. Furthermore, we consider it essential that, on the one hand, the planning team develops further and constantly gets to know new methods of teaching, and that the trainers are trained accordingly in order to be able to support the inmates in the best possible way with current learning offers. In addition, it was very important to us to network our organization within Europe and to generate possible partnerships with other organizations in prison education.
The Catholic Organization for the edcucation of adults in Carinthia has been responsible for the educational programmes at the Klagenfurt Prison for many years. For us, working with socially and educationally disadvantaged people is our focus. The prison in Klagenfurt has about 360 inmates, to whom we would like to offer the best possible range of further training courses in order to improve their everyday life in prison and give them the opportunity to reflect on their situation, but also to prepare themselves for everyday life after their release from prison. It is very important to us that we support a target group that is otherwise given little attention.
