The title of this youth exchange was “Wir gläserne Menschen – We glass people”. Our youth exchange and all associated activities, preparation and follow-up were carried out in German. The term that was chosen as the title has now become common and well-known, and comes from the area of Internet security and data protection. More and more data are being collected on the Internet. Our personality profiles meanwhile know us better than our own family does, which, however, entails significant restrictions on personal freedom that many are unaware of. All Internet users are affected by this phenomenon, but our focus was on young people between the ages of 14 and 20. In this youth encounter, our young participants were shown the dangers that can arise from careless handling of personal data. First of all, there is a need to raise awareness, because many institutions seductively tempt people to disclose personal data. This is precisely why the participants had to perceive and develop their self-confidence in the course of this youth exchange. They were advised to use the internet consciously and critically and to critically question any disclosure of their own personal information.
