Project summary

We are 4 schools from different countries (Belgium, Italy, Romania and Bulgaria), very rich in their traditions. Our project aims to keep and transmit a lot of information on traditions, on cooking recipes, on food, on folklore. Our students will study and share this information with their partners, using new and traditional technologies. We intend to make a multilingual dictionary of cooking terms, we will share recipes related to religious or pagan festivals, we will learn to make new recipes with typical foods from each country. We will make a cookbook with traditional recipes that the students will make together. In addition, seminars, workshops and cultural craft courses will be organized. Practical activities will stimulate our students above all to have confidence in their abilities and their ideas. Regular contact between teachers will ensure proper planning and evaluation at each stage. This project will provide a better understanding of food production, typical recipes, respect for the traditions of each country, but also an understanding of the education systems of the countries involved in order to create better health, a generation more tolerant and open to the values of a greater Europe. We also intend to improve the pedagogy of all participating schools by sharing good practices, didactic experiences, promoting language learning and new technologies, creativity and initiative. Participation in this project can improve the motivation of our students and the academic performance of some of them, by showing them, thanks to their knowledge of foreign languages, the different cultures and the mobility that this project can offer them. It will certainly be useful to resolve the situation of social discrimination, to promote the feeling of belonging to the same community and to help the integration of our students in school life and later in society. This project will also include 4 mobilities. Each of them will take place in one of the schools participating in the project.

Final report summary

Our project took the form of a consortium bringing together four schools from different European countries, namely Belgium, Italy, Romania and Bulgaria. Throughout our collaboration, we had the opportunity to discover the rich culinary and cultural traditions of the partner establishments. Our aim was to share knowledge about traditions, culinary recipes, food products and folklore through various activities. Our project was fully aligned with the program priorities, as we actively supported the adoption of innovative approaches and the use of digital technologies in education and learning. Through remote activities, such as the collaborative creation of a recipe book and a digital lexicon, we illustrated how new technologies can enrich the educational experience by fostering meaningful cross-border collaboration. As part of our project, we have closely linked our initiative to the second priority of the programme, which highlights the social and educational value of European cultural heritage. This priority was explored in depth through our immersion in the traditional cultures of our partners. More specifically, our attention was focused on culinary traditions and culture. Throughout our travels and our exchanges, we had the chance to immerse ourselves in the richness of these cultures. The typical recipes we discovered and prepared helped reveal the culinary heritage, providing a deep understanding of the practices that have evolved over generations. By sharing these recipes within our cookbook and creating a digital lexicon, we have ensured that these cultural treasures are preserved and passed on in an accessible way to current and future generations. Overall, our project was a concrete and enriching way to highlight the social and educational value of European cultural heritage, particularly through the unifying and convivial aspects of traditional cuisine. Our students were able to communicate and share with their European counterparts through the use of new technologies, such as forums and video conferences. We have produced a cooking recipe booklet accompanied by a multilingual dictionary of culinary terms. This realization is the result of the preparation of various recipes typical of each country. Our engaging, hands-on activities stimulated our students, encouraging them to develop confidence in their activities and ideas. This project allowed us to better understand food production, typical recipes, respect for the traditions of each of the partner countries, while deepening our knowledge of the educational systems of the countries involved. The result is a generation that is healthier, more tolerant and open to the values of a greater Europe. The teaching staff also discovered and shared the teaching methods of all participating schools, thus exchanging good practices and teaching experiences. This experience promoted the learning of languages, new technologies, creativity and initiative. In conclusion, our students emerged from this inclusive and human experience enriched, thus strengthening their feeling of belonging to Europe.
