Through this project, we aim to use adaptive teaching, from each student's learning needs, to cyclically optimize & make students better self-directed learners. The consortium professionalizes in European context in: (1) acquiring knowledge about adaptive teaching (2) developing strategies to achieve sustainable 'micro-adaptations' within professional thinking frameworks (3) developing strategies to bundle micro-adaptations into macro-adaptations within the own school context in order to realize a sustainable adaptive education policy (4) depending on the needs of each partner - study professional thinking frameworks in order to apply therein the strategies that lead to sustainable micro-adaptations. (5) through 1, 2, 3 & 4 optimize the learning and self-directed learning of each student (6) to realize through 1, 2, 3 & 4 an improved educational practice aimed at learning needs & self-directed learning of each pupil (7) through 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6 achieve a sustainable school policy around adaptive education that focuses on better learning & self-directed learning of each pupil (8) from 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 & 7 and supported by the guidance share what has been learned within the school, within the consortium, Flanders-wide and via e-Twinning with colleagues in Europe
The coordinator of the project is Catholic Education Flanders. Pedagogical guidance supports more than 2,000 schools. Guidance works not only supply-oriented but also mostly demand-driven. The schools in this consortium formulated the demand for guidance from an academic point of view based on literature on "adaptive teaching" by Corno & Snow, among others, Randi, Timperley Kaser & Halbert and the OECD to network in order to set up an Erasmus+ KA1 consortium, allowing the schools to learn internationally. Writing an Erasmus+ project themselves is still often a "bridge too far" for some schools. Main causes are that schools usually lack the manpower, resources, time and even expertise to do this. This is where KathOndVla plays a supporting role through this project. Participating schools can count on the administrative, financial, substantive and logistical expertise of Catholic Education Flanders, taking a lot of work out of the hands of the schools and leaving them with the sole task of realizing the content of the project. The content of the project is specified, discussed and decided by the partners themselves.
