In the first place, we wanted the participants to gain expertise in the field of cultural heritage, digital game based learning, storytelling and mission based learning. Second, we aimed to integrate these insights in our KA2 project (Behind the Walls) but also in daily school life. Moreover, we expected these topics and methods to address students learning and working methods and the development of critical(European) citizenship. Finally, we hoped this would lead to a transformation in the schools (non) formal evaluation policy.
We applied for this project after combining results of an internal SWOT analysis at school with the needs of an upcoming KA2 project. Professional development was needed in the field of evaluation policy, mission based learning and cross curricular teaching methods. Our KA2 focusing on Cultural Heritage, we choose this topic with the intention of deploying insights on above mentioned subjects first of all during KA2 and later on in teaching practices at school in general. We also wanted to embed professional development and life-long learning into the vision of the team and the school.
