Objectives

We wanted to offer our young people not only the opportunity to gain foreign work experience and international work attitudes, but also an experience where the pupils learn to deal with cultural differences/similarities. We wanted to get them excited about discovering foreign cultures, customs and languages. We also hope that the pupils gain a lot of information and that they share this with their fellow pupils, so that they in return become enthusiastic about our internship opportunities abroad. Moreover, we want the pupils to be open to new adventures through this international attitude building and the necessary competences. They will have an entrepreneurial view of the employee, dare to take initiative, cooperate with the employer, sometimes with limited language skills, are able to start a conversation, ...

Background

In all the years of its existence, DBSO has undergone quite a development. Our young people still need a different approach in order to learn again. Our school has already experienced many changes and with the arrival of dual learning, we are faced with a new challenge. The pupil can acquire a large part of the competences on the work floor, but it remains important to create a tailor-made project for the pupils. For our pupils, an internship abroad is a great opportunity to acquire knowledge of other teaching and working methods, language and required work competences. Because of dual learning, the link between school and work floor must be even stronger and through these work placements abroad they can gain extra work experience. It is important to note that employers are increasingly looking for motivated, talented, entrepreneurial employees with the right (work) attitude. In other words, they are looking for an entrepreneurial employee. An internship abroad helps them grow even more in that direction. This way, we want to strengthen their employment opportunities. For our students, it is not easy to organise an international experience on their own.
