Background

Background Since several school years, our school offers our students the unique opportunity, to complete a foreign internship. For several school years our students have completed internships at the Martha Flora Nursing Home. We have had a good cooperation for several years. From this cooperation we have the guarantee to achieve the intended objectives (striving for a quality internship). We started this project to achieve several goals and because we are convinced it is an added value for our students. We wanted to further professionalize our students in the field of caring and assisting needy people/people with disabilities. The students got acquainted with the concept ‘holistic approach’ of the caretaker and were able to experience the care of one-to-one relationships. Through different activities we wanted to contribute to the development of the students, such as being independent, empowered, civic-minded etc. Starting from the pedagogical project of het Gemeenschapsonderwijs this project fully aligns with its GO! values, developing the learner. As a school we wanted to further anchor international cooperation, which we succeeded in and we can be proud of. There have been other international exchanges (ENNE- project: 2021-2-BE02-KA210-VET-000049008 ) within the fields of Design and Hair Care. Our working group on internationalization was further expanded. There have been exchanges at school and student level (Portugal and Italy). Also from this project - Call 2020 - we have continued the cooperation with the school Vista College Maastricht in the Netherlands. Also from another project there has been an exchange with Sweden. The Swedish school visited our school this school year. We also worked on the integration and school career of young people. With this foreign internship, our students can also be employed in the Netherlands in the future. The partner encourages our pupils to come and work with them. Thanks to Europass, the students now have a certificate to find a job within Europe.
