At the end of their training, the students of 7TBZ and 7KZ are doing an optional internship of 4 weeks. A number of them have chosen for an internship abroad. In addition to the general objectives of an internship, this project (the internship abroad) adds a number of other important values. We wanted to give our students the opportunity to - experiencing the education system and the relationship to the care institutions in other countries - comparing attitudes (punctuality, teamwork, commitment, ergonomic working, ...) and testing their importance in practice - learning to use a foreign language (English) in function of their field of expertise as well as in dealing with the local population. - broading their cultural baggage - increasing their self-reliance and independence by living together on an independent basis - developing greater self-esteem and confidence by participating in the project - evolving into critical global citizens who are open to diversity and diversity We wanted to give the supervising teachers the chance to get a view of care and education in another country/culture, in order to test their own approach.
Thanks to the reorganization in the school community of viio, we discovered the Erasmus+ mobilities organized for the students of the 7th year BSO-TSO of the industrial fields. By accompanying twice a group of boys from the wood department, we were able to experience exactly what such a foreign internship ment for the students and the supervisor. Living and gaining practical experience in another country for a month and that way coming into contact with a different culture and language was a great added value, personally and professionally. We also wanted to offer our students from 7 Home and Elderly Care and 7 Childcare this unique opportunity. In 2016 we started our own mobility project 'viio CARE MEETS EUROPE'. From now on, our students could do their optional internship of 4 weeks abroad. It was a unique opportunity and it was an extra boost for their education. Our first project was a success. Thanks to the positive experiences and the great interest of our students, the project was extended for the first time in 2018 and a second time in 2020. After Denmark, a second host country was added, Slovenia.
