We wanted our project to give all our final-year students from all our courses the opportunity to go on an internship abroad. These students remain the main target group in our project as we are absolutely convinced of its added value for them both professionally and personally. Our school is located in Ostend and has the profile of a city centre. That means we have many pupils who meet the SES indicators but also many disadvantaged ones. Needless to say, an internship abroad is a unique experience for these pupils and they learn a lot in many areas. Their view of the world broadens and for once they are away from their familiar surroundings and home town where many have never been outside.
Our school has been organising overseas placements for final-year students for 18 years. This has become an established feature in our pedagogical project, in our policy, in our promo, in the minds of students and colleagues so not requesting new mobilities is not among our options. :)
