Objectives

By implementing this project, we wanted to give visibility to our organization, as we are a newly established NGO in Belgium, make our existence and work know to other organizations, institutions, and EU associations and at the same time develop our network and become more active in the Youth Field. In addition, we wanted to contribute to the improvement of international cooperation and partnership between youth organizations from programme and partner countries. Driven by the lack of interest and that young Belgians show towards non-formal education and participation in learning mobility projects and motivated by the beginning of the new Erasmus+ Programme period (which has the double budget comparing to the previous programme in order to offer to even more young people the opportunities of learning mobilities, especially to those facing obstacles and barriers) we decided to proceed with the implementation of this project to raise the awareness of the importance of non-formal education and the opportunities offered by the programme. It was an opportunity for us to strengthen through this project the capacities of the involved organizations by cooperating in an international learning environment that facilitated the exchange of knowledge, expertise, good practices, and ideas and develop new project ideas, offering this way new learning opportunities of high quality for young people’s personal and professional development. The objectives of the project were: 1.The organization of a Contact Seminar in Belgium, bringing together 20 youth organizations from programme and partners countries (Belgium, France, Spain, Italy, Poland, Ireland, Greece, Romania, Turkey, Serbia, Slovenia, Germany, Tunisia, Morocco, Lebanon, Jordan, Montenegro, Albania, Moldova, and Georgia), represented by 22 experienced youth workers, trainers, legal representatives, and project managers. 2.The creation and establishment of a long-term partnership between the involved partners. 3. The promotion of cooperation in the Youth work field at the international level through the exchange of knowledge, ideas and good practices and experiences related to youth participation and non-formal education in a spirit of openness and tolerance. 4. The design of at least 10 project ideas based on non-formal education to be applied for funding under Erasmus+ programme in the corresponding national agencies of the involved programme countries. 5. The promotion of the existing European tools and methods to improve and empower youth participation. The objectives of our project were in line with the following Erasmus+ objectives: A. The development of international cooperation in the field of youth and the creation of projects based on the development of civil society and democracy. - The promotion of European values, such as respect for human dignity, freedom, democracy, including openness, tolerance, and equal opportunities. B. Specifically for the field of youth: - The project developed the skills of those involved in working with young people. - The project promoted the cooperation between organizations in the field of youth, with the aim of improving the quality of learning processes. C. Specifically for Key Action 1 – Learning Mobility of Individuals (youth): - The project aimed to accompany participants in the development of concrete skills (knowledge, skills, attitudes) - The project promoted non-formal education methods in the field of youth with partner countries. Within the framework of an international learning atmosphere, we approached and discussed different aspects of international voluntary and community projects and activities and their required preparation. We also raised awareness of other issues that can arise or can be directly linked to leading an international and local youth project. Also, we focused on the importance of leadership and cooperation among organizations. The inclusion of partner organizations from non-EU countries allowed us to have a broad share of experiences among us, contributed to the establishment of a strong and reliable partnership, and offered a broader audience for the dissemination of project results.
