We decided to implement this project because the social network of people with a disability is often small and they are not able to have a lot of contact with other European persons. Usually people with intellectual disabilities cannot take part in school exchange, voluntary project, au pair, traveling on their own ect. We wanted to change this and expand the social networks of our participants. We wanted to implement the project in order to help participants to develop a sense of tolerance and understanding of diversity and knowledge about different cultures. Several objectives were mentioned in the application: To be an intercultural experience for the participants and other people involved To develop key competences of the participants and other people involved in order to increase the general wellbeing and the level of employability among the participants To fight against social exclusion To promote active citizenship among young people with disabilities To develop and foster quality improvements in the youth work of organizations involved to be even more based on the active participation of the young people To have a lot of fun, explore and experience the city and nature of Helsinki together
