Background

RDE-Pazardzhik is responsible for the implementation of the national policy in the field of education in Pazardzhik district. In 2019, an external evaluation and survey were conducted among students and teachers from 10 schools in the district, regarding their achievements and motivation for science learning. The results showed low motivation, and the reasons - an uninteresting learning process and a lack of innovative teaching methods in classroom. The needs of science teachers’ training to learn and apply new pedagogical methods and approach that would increase students' science interest, make the educational process attractive and form the necessary competencies that increase science literacy, were detected . Five of these schools participated in the International Student Assessment - PISA. After the announcement of the results, in addition to the students' low learning motivation, serious deficits in the classroom emerged, which should be improved through teachers' trainings. The Plan for the Development of Education in district Pazardzhik laid down the need to achieve an increase in science results by 2024, through implementation of a motivating and innovative educational process.
