Background

Education and training are the best investments into the future of Europe. They play a crucial role in stimulating growth, innovations and job creation. The European systems for Education and training should give people the knowledge and skills, which are needed for innovation and success. They also play a vital part in creating European identity and building upon common values and cultures. Education has to help young people be active and engaged in forming the future of Europe by encompassing, open and based on exceptional achievements European scientific area, that is connected to the European education area. The possibility for Bulgaria to take its place in this “Square of knowledge”, that consists of science, education, innovation and benefits to society, offers a vast discussion on both national and local level, in which we can participate. Taking part in this important discussion together with other institutions we can succeed in planning out a new way for improving not only the school but the city as well. The High school of Mathematics and Natural Sciences ”Acad. Ivan Tsenov”, is a school with traditions in all of those areas and its faculty strives to always be innovative. Our project has the goal to create a system for teaching science in the classroom. The Open School model, which we intend to follow is only possible, if the school does not isolate itself, but be open to other schools. Of great importance to the success of our project is the knowledge exchange between us and European schools, which will form the reference for a pan-European roadmap for introducing relevant activities in schools. Using innovative methods through "true science" research, we will contribute for better understanding of science and its part in our society. The teachers can achieve better results with their students, when they personalize the experience gained from the training, apply knowledge from the real world and using technologies to better the learning experience for the students.
