Objectives

The project set and achieved the following main goals as a result of its successful implementation: 1) provision of a real working environment in which students upgraded their existing knowledge and skills and acquired new, practical competencies in the field of electrical engineering; 2) developing the students' soft skills (including communication, and interpersonal), which they will need in the future professional realization; 3) increasing the English language competencies of students and their accompanying teachers; 4) increasing the professional qualification of accompanying teachers by acquiring more narrowly specialized practical knowledge in some electrotechnical fields; 5) implementation of more practically oriented teaching methods in PGEE; 6) updating the curriculum for the specialized subjects studied in the "Electrical equipment of production" specialty and achieving sustainability and accessibility of the project results for a wider range of students; 7) acquisition of experience by the management of PGEE in the independent development, administration, and management of educational mobility projects; 8) expanding the cooperation network of PGEE with European business representatives.

Background

The EL-Experts project was initiated to meet the need to increase the practical skills, experiences, and work habits of electrical technicians studying at PGEE Galabovo, and hence reduce the gap between business requirements and school education. The specialty "Electrical production equipment" is extremely practically oriented and requires in-depth practical training, which is difficult to provide in the available material and technical base of the high school and often does not allow the implementation of some of the practical activities included in the curriculum. In addition, business companies in the Stara Zagora region are not always motivated to provide internships to PGEE students. In order to ensure the high-quality training of students, so that after their graduation they will be competitive young specialists in Bulgaria and abroad, PGEE Galabovo implements the EL-Experts project, which enables 20 students from the "Electrical Production Equipment" specialty to carry out a two-week internship at the equipment and telecommunications repair company - Mafertronic SL in Maracena (Granada), Spain, and acquire key competencies in the chosen profession.
