Objectives

The main objective of the mobility project was for the teachers to gather skills, knowledge, and expertise to invest in the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the AP responding to the needs of all members of the school. To achieve the latter, it was essential for the teachers to participate in specific trainings that different European organisations are offering in the context of Erasmus+, as well as to come in contact and exchange experiences, thoughts, and ideas with teachers from other European countries. Βeyond the beforementioned objective, we aimed for a wider change of attitudes and perceptions regarding the role of teachers in the school unit, which extends beyond the learning process and which targets emotional safety, the holistic development of the pupil as an individual and the deepening of critical thinking. Therefore, the teachers’ mobility became a source of personal and professional development. An additional objective was to develop relationships and acquaintances with teachers from other European countries for the development of future Strategic Partnerships (Erasmus+ KA2), so that all members of the school could be involved and benefit from this European interaction and creation.

Background

The proposed teachers’ mobility project arose as a need to enrich and implement the school's Health Education and Violence Prevention Action Plan (AP) entitled: I’m wearing my smile!!! Are you? The AP was designed as a result of: a) a high rate of cases of delinquent behavior, b) the existence of groups of pupils in vulnerable emotional state, c) the need of the pupils themselves to improve the school climate, the development of healthy interpersonal relationships, as well as the resolution of conflicts between them, d) the inability of the family and the wider social environment to support pupils. The activities and the different actions of the AP are implicitly linked to the Professional Learning Plan and other policies of the school to strengthen everyone's efforts to create a modern European school. Therefore, the need to implement the AP and enrich it with actions and activities, which are consistent with the European school reality, but also involving all relevant agencies related to the change in the school climate, led the school's educational staff to search for new pedagogical methods and tools, as well as modern methods which were acquired through the current teachers’ mobility project.
