Objectives

By implementing this project our school wanted to : 1. Learn techniques to identify early students at risk of ESL , understand various factors that lead to school drop-outs and implement methods to prevent it 2. Study the European education system and get to know ways to support drop out kids 3. Acquire knowledge on handling and treating vulnerable children and learn innovative teaching techniques to differentiate learning and make it more attractive 4. Get familiar with systemic approach for preventing early school leaving. 5. To get to know ways in strengthening the links between school and home in order to help disadvantaged parents help their children. 1. ESL signals that young people show range greatly from one young person to another. "Signals" are not all easy to identify and to interpret. For example, students whose marks are falling or who are failing certain subjects may struggle with academic skills or motivation; it may also problems in the family or lack of support at home, etc. There are a lot of other issues that will push young people for ESL. Learning techniques and ways of spotting ESL it will help us to improve. 2. The majority of European countries ESL policies are driven by national educational system or legislation. Study the other countries Educational system we will find new ways to support drop out kids and handling and treating better vulnerable children. 3. New approaches to teaching are supposed to change the specifics of students’ involvement in the learning process from passive to active type. In this way teaching will be more attractive. 4. To prevent early school leaving schools need to develop a systemic approach that includes simultaneous activities on multiple levels: work with teachers and counselling service, work with parents and work with pupils. “Dropping out” is linked to the feeling of being powerless, of senselessness and extreme lack of motivation. The engine that helps to increase motivation and find the meaning is fuelled by relevant stimuli in a safe and significant relationship. 5. Home and parents are the most important supporters for schools to prevent ESL. School and parents must exchange information on a regular basis for cases that concerning ESL students

Background

Our school had applied for this project because our school had no experience with early school leaving. Our school wanted to improve and better develop the teachers capabilities and behaviour how to avoid students drop outs and school leaving. Our objective was to create a program that will prevent early student drop out in our school. In order to achieve this our school needs to have qualified staff that can develop together with the principle a vision and a school policy plan to tackle students drop outs and school leaving. One of the school’s main policy is to provide the necessary opportunities and incentives for the teacher’s continuous training not only in pedagogical and technological issues but also to cop with the current needs of present problems such as early school leaving. Our participation in educational activities organized within the Erasmus + will allow us to contact our colleagues from the rest of Europe in order to inform and be informed of students drop outs and issues, practices and cultures. Teachers and school staff came together to exchange ideas, compared practices and introduced new ideas to the school and National Education curricula.
