Objectives

The implementation of this new experience (EU training program) and knowledge in the school environment has influenced the rest of the students and the teaching staff, but also the way of implementing our curriculum. In addition, the evaluation of all participants trained in other EU countries gave us the opportunity to compare and improve the way the internships implemented. Our teaching program enriched and adapted to innovative teaching approaches and upgraded students' abilities in terms of knowledge, skills and attitudes in their specialization. Education in a foreign country increased students' opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills for their personal development and job opportunities in EU countries. It improved their communication skills, especially foreign languages, intercultural skills and acquired skills highly valued by future employers. Socializing and working with people from different backgrounds and cultures, being able to adapt and act in new situations helped improve problem-solving skills knowing how to consider cultural perspectives. Teachers, on the other hand, better understood the different realities of their students and adapted them to their teaching methods and the real needs of their students.

Background

The Α Technical School is a public vocational school located in Nicosia and operates under the Ministry of Education & Culture and serves the educational needs of students living in the city. It has extensive experience in student placements as they undertake 180 hours of practical work during the first two years of their studies. The following specialties are offered: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architecture and Civil Engineering, Applied Arts, Hospitality and Aesthetics. The mission is to enable our students to acquire knowledge, skills and attitudes that will help them improve their employment prospects and productivity in employment. Pursuing this, we aim to create a long-term, stable partnership with European Organizations. Our project aims to provide a range of opportunities to both our students and teachers. We maximize this by partnering with organizations that can enable, supporting our students to build limitless ambition. This culminates in access to a European multicultural environment and their adaptation to new technologies. Participation gives both our students and teachers the opportunity to develop into independent and confident adults, prepared for the demands of modern society.
