The "Theotokos" and "Association of Parents and Friends of Children with Special Needs the House of Marios" have proceeded to the elaboration of a strategic plan, which refers to practices that will ensure the access of their trainers to Mobility programmes. A survey conducted showed that among the motivations for participating in these programmes was the desire to improve knowledge, skills and competences. In line with the design, the institutions moved towards developing and establishing actions to enhance the professional development of trainers. Participants through the project and in collaboration with the host institution took part in collaborative training projects with Greek trainers, as research has shown that professional capacity development is particularly promoted through these projects, where trainers have the opportunity to discuss, analyse and revise their views, both through their personal experiences and through the experiences of their colleagues. Particularly important is the benefit of the knowledge they gain in relation to the educational treatment of people with disabilities, which helps them to enhance their self-confidence.
The main objective of the project was the acquisition, on the part of the participants, of the necessary educational knowledge and the cultivation of social, communication and professional skills and attitudes, in order to contribute to the upgrading and modernization of educational services in their institutions and to the optimization of the services provided to persons with disabilities. The specific objectives of the project were to develop aspects of the participants' personalities, to communicate and cooperate with people from another country, to develop their self-image, to improve their ability to cooperate and socialise and to develop their sense of European citizenship. The Participants, through the project and in cooperation with the host organisation, took part in the organisation of collaborative training programmes with Greek teachers, as relevant research has shown that the development of professional competence is particularly promoted through these projects, where volunteers have the opportunity to discuss, analyse and revise their views, both through their personal experiences and through the experiences of their colleagues.
