The objectives of the project were four-fold: 1) to gather new tools, methodologies, ideas from host organizations and other local organizations to improve our training content; 2) to enhance the skills, knowledge and attitudes of our staff in regards to intercultural competences and cultural sensitivity; 3) to enhance the field specific skills and competences of our staff to build their capacities and provide an enabling environment for growth; and 4) to build cross-country collaborations.
AHDR works in field of adult education, focusing on training of teachers/educators in Cyprus through providing them a wide range of capacity building opportunities in fields of peace and history education, for establishing culture of peace/non-violence, cooperation, and dialogue. In the context of history education, designing and implementing a training requires great amount of historical understanding and intercultural competences. Since Cyprus and AHDR has a multicultural and multilingual character, we believe that our staff constantly needs to pay attention to intercultural issues and develop their competences. Erasmus+ is one of the best ways for our us to enrich knowledge, skills, practices, and to pass down these vital skills among staff members, and consequently to adult learners who engage with AHDR’s activities. In addition, AHDR aims to create an environment for professional development and grow its professional network, in order to have opportunities for future collaborations. Furthermore, we realized that job-shadowing, in addition to allowing development of skills and knowledge, is an activity that increases employees’ motivation, and is a great way to improve the content of our educational activities and materials.
