Objectives

By implementing this project CyRC's objective was to be updated on the ongoing developments in European and International Asylum Law and policies and receive relevant training to ensure the provision of effective and quality services to its beneficiaries. In addition, CyRC aimed to expand its network and establish fruitful relations with organisations working with refugees all over the world in order to share experiences, good practices and information.

Background

Cyprus Refugee Council (CyRC) applied for the Project due to the situation in the operating environment, specifically the increase in asylum applications continues, rendering Cyprus first per capita among EU member states. The high numbers of asylum seekers in the country combined with the adoption of new policies and practices locally and internationally render continuous training crucial in the daily work of the CyRC. The strengthening of the technical capacity through upskilling trainings and networking are of high importance for CyRC work as it remains one of the key organisations in asylum and the only one offering free legal advice to asylum seeker and beneficiaries of international protection in Cyprus. Furthermore, CyRC is a member of various local and International networks, and often participates in trainings to ensure access to accurate information and to provide not only internal but also external training to other organisations working with refugees in Cyprus. Therefore, the participation of CyRC in such trainings ensures the provision of quality services to persons of concern, and secures that it remains professional and well trusted organisation.
