Αgros Environmental group host between 21-29 November 2021 the training course "ESC4 YOUTh" which aimed to support youth workers and organisations active in the volunteering actions in the European Solidarity Corps. In the TC took part 30 youth workers from 10 EU countries. The principal objective was work from other perspective in the concept and about all the parts included in an ESC project. Even though volunteering activities (formerly in the form of a European Voluntary Service and now as a European Solidarity Corps) have been existening for more than 20 years, we have been increasingly experiencing difficulties in working with different consortia in implementing meaningful volunteer projects. These difficulties are due to various reasons and are of a different nature, on the one hand, they are related to the different project management phases and on the other are concentrated in the management of volunteers involved. For example, many organizations are still unaware of the practical aspects of implementing high-quality volunteer projects, have difficulty maintaining high quality through all stages of assessing specific needs to finalizing and measuring the impact of their projects, as well as tackling challenges and changing realities and more. As far as the management of volunteers is concerned, there are particular difficulties in working with young people such as demotivation, earlier project termination, communication difficulties, planning of a balanced service-learning program, etc. We should not forget that there are also new organizations that have a desire but have no experience in implementing volunteer projects to date. Experience has shown that a successful and quality volunteer project requires knowledge, experience and active involvement of many stakeholders both from the supporting / sending and hosting organizations. The training activity had as a goal to support and build up the capacities of organisations that actively participate in volunteering actions of the European Solidarity Corps, in order to ensure quality and impact in the respective projects. Objectives and benefits of the training course : Foster understanding, awareness and commitment to core quality criteria of the European Solidarity Corps Build up competences on how to design and implement European Solidarity Corps projects with a view to quality Ensure clarity and support on how the programme works formally: opportunities, guidelines, structures, priorities, rules, and procedures Give space to participants and their organisations to express burning issues and needs and offer support where possible Foster a supportive community of organisations involved in the European Solidarity Corps With the "ESC 4 YOUth” project, we aimed to improve and enhance the quality of the implementation of volunteer projects with a focus on ESC and thus ensure that the activities of these projects are achieved more effectively for both the main actors (volunteer, host organization, supportive organization, mentor, supervisor) as well as for the other affected - target group, local volunteers, local community, etc. We wanted to achieve clarity, understanding and successful implementation of all steps in delivering high quality, meaningful and balanced service-learning volunteer projects by partner organizations as well as provide space and opportunity for networking and collaboration in which organizations can help and support themselves during the realization of their current and future volunteer projects. The project offered a platform for participating in debates on different aspects and understanding of solidarity and showcase different inspirational inputs and practices related to solidarity in the European Solidarity Corps programme and beyond to foster Solidarity as a core value in Europe. In light of the pandemic situation the entire world is leaving for last few month, the population is confronted with challenges, difficulties and issues that nobody could have envisioned. When we are in a weakened position where we feel as if things are going from bad to worse, it can be very difficult to find our balance, or swim against the tide, or, recover and regain stability. This situation is extremely difficult for youngsters, whose lives dominated by social connection, but are forced to apply social distance. The TC wanted to build solidarity in young people around Europe, by empowering them to actively participate in communities. We promoted the opportunities the European Solidarity Corps offers for youth participation in communities, through the solidarity projects. "ESC 4 YOUth" was highly connected with the current European objectives dedicated to youth eg. European Year for Youth and structured dialogue process.
