The most important aim was to develop English communicative competence of two teachers of vocational training and of one teacher who wished to participate in international projects concerning tourism. We intended to improve the language skills of the above mentioned pedagogues so that they could actively participate in the realization of gastronomy projects or the projects concerning tourism in the future. We also aimed at the improvement of the English communicative competence of one IT teacher and one pedagogue was meant to enhance their skills and competencies regarding language teaching with the use of digital technologies which might be utilised in the school e-learning environment. Consequently these two teachers were supposed to innovate the e-learning environment and make English learning as well as teaching more effective there.
The project was realised as it is believed that our institution must address the newly appearing needs of the European labour market. The primary reason why we decided to participate in this project was to develop the language and professional skills of our pedagogues with the aim of increasing the chances of our students to succeed in the European labour market. The primary motivation was to develop English communicative competence of the selected pedagogues of our institution so that they could participate in international projects concerning gastronomy and tourism in the future and thus could develop the key competencies of our students and ensure further improvement of the education at our institution. We believe that such participation will lead to effective knowledge sharing regarding gastronomy and tourism with other European institutions and consequently will contribute to internationalisation of gastronomy, the development of key competences, English communicative competence as well as intercultural communicative competence of our students. Another motivation was to innovate our English e-learning environment so that the students as well as the public could improve their English communicative competence there.
