Objectives

The aim of this particular project was to increase the language competences of individual participants in the following areas: understanding the spoken word, reading, writing and listening, enriching teaching with the use of modern teaching methods and increasing the number of people involved in the implementation of various types of international projects. At the same time, by staying in a multicultural environment, we wanted to strengthen the intercultural and social competences of the course and shadowing participants. In past years, several of our colleagues completed language and methodology courses. Two of these participants expressed an interest in shadowing, in which they would seek inspiration by observing teaching at school and in school clubs. Our intention was to collegially share the method of educating pupils abroad and to gradually implement the acquired skills into the lessons and the program of the school club. Colleagues who were new to the project showed an interest in improving their language skills and gaining experience in the use of interesting methods and forms of work, which they will apply especially at the 1st level in English language teaching and at the 2nd level in language teaching.

Background

The request was based on the long-term intention of our school, which aims to prepare pupils for a quality life in the European Union, which is connected with the need to discover the European cultural space, with an understanding of cultural and linguistic differences. In order to be able to sufficiently motivate our students, we must constantly work as hard as possible on the personal and professional growth of all school employees. We wanted to support the professional development of school teachers by increasing their language, didactic, social and intercultural competences. Our effort was and is to improve the quality of teaching not only languages, but also general subjects by gaining inspiration in foreign schools, especially in innovative teaching methods, introducing the CLILL method into teaching and using IC technologies effectively. The mentioned innovations make teaching more attractive, students are then more motivated and achieve better results. Another factor that influenced us when submitting the application was the need to increase the number of employees who will continue to implement e-Twinning and other international projects.
