The school has defined four key priorities in the area of improving the quality of teaching, divided into two areas. In the first area of INTERNATIONALIZATION, two important goals have been defined - to increase the knowledge of foreign languages and establish foreign cooperation. In the area of QUALITY DEVELOPMENT, it fulfils the goals - the use of information technologies in teaching and the support of inclusive education and the education of foreign students. We wanted to achieve the goals in the field of internationalization in the project by increasing the language competences of teachers. Within the framework of language skills, we wanted to focus on strengthening communication skills and gaining confidence among teachers who are at the beginning of their career and increase the methodological competences of foreign language teachers in English, Russian and German, to establish international cooperation with elementary schools within the EU with an emphasis on the diversity of the countries in which the partner schools are based, to share experiences with methods of teaching foreign languages, but also with methods of teaching in general and professional subjects. In the project, we wanted to achieve the goals in the area of quality development by increasing the competences of teachers in the area of using modern technologies, ensuring high-quality education for pupils with SEN with an emphasis on modern methods, and enabling foreign pupils to master the Czech language.
Our elementary school has been striving to improve the quality of language education for a long time. By participating in the project, teachers increased their competence in languages knowledge and foreign language teaching methodology, which leads to an improvement in the quality of foreign language teaching (English, German and Russian) at our elementary school. At the same time, six female teachers participated in shadowing at foreign schools, where they could compare the approaches of partner schools and adopt examples of good practice from abroad. The project was fully in line with our strategic development plan in the field of internationalization: to increase the competence and knowledge of teachers in foreign languages and to deepen international cooperation with schools abroad. We applied for the project based on previous experience from the Open World project, which we have already implemented. The involvement of teachers in language courses increased their knowledge of foreign languages and significantly increased the quality of teaching in the field of methods and forms of their work. At the same time, a visit to a partner school was a great inspiration, which enabled us to improve the quality in the area of individual approach to individual pupils. The project was also intended to support self-confidence in the use of a foreign language among teachers, their orientation in a foreign-language environment, and to familiarize them with new and innovative resources.
