Objectives

The objectives of the project were based on our strategic documents - the European Development Plan and the European Internationalization Strategy, in which we identified key areas for the school's development. At the same time, we wanted to involve new teachers who had not yet completed Erasmus+ course. Project objectives: 1) To improve the competence to communicate in a foreign language so that elements of the foreign language can be systematically incorporated into the teaching, from specialist vocabulary through the use of support materials in the foreign language to the full use of the CLIL method. 2) Apply CLIL systematically-to know the CLIL method from all perspectives: lesson planning, organization and methods of CLIL teaching, assessment learning outcomes and evaluation of effectiveness. 3) To further connect teachers of vocational subjects and foreign languages in the development of teamwork. Incorporate tandems of teachers in the organization of teaching: one vocational teacher+one foreign language teacher in one lesson of a vocational or science subject. 4) Enrich teaching by promoting critical thinking, formative assessment and other modern methods, which have proved invaluable in an age of endless distance learning.

Background

Erasmus+ activities are already an integral and strategically important area of our school and bring sustainable added value. The school implements several projects and the main feature is the systemic linking of student internship with educational mobility of teachers based on the development of personal competences - to communicate in a foreign language and using it in teaching professional subjects, to introduce elements of modern pedagogy into teaching and evaluation and to literally open the gates of the European dimension to the young generation. The project "Secondary School Opening the Gates to the European Dimension" is in fact the conclusion of an apparent shift in the focus of teacher mobility on professionalism and the development of language use towards the anchoring of the CLIL method in school curricula and the integration of modern methods. The Erasmus+ activities are an important support in the realization of our new vision - "A School that connects", where we complement the already implemented ones by supporting the leadership of teachers and students. Erasmus+ as an integral part of the school has been strengthened by gaining Erasmus Accreditation in 2021 and we are already implementing further mobilities.
